Day 4 - School Immersion Part 2 (Harmony Primary)

Part 2 of the school immersion began with a coach ride to the suburb in Atwell, south of Perth. Harmony Primary School is one of the most recent schools in the community. The school building is unique in Western Australia as both design and materials were carefully thought through and chosen based on the sustainable initiative of Australia.

Ms Melanie Deeks welcomed the delegates into her classroom of Year 5 (10/11 years old). She and her pupils provided a brief introduction of the school and the environmental conservation efforts.

Ms Lea Hadley, the Principal, met up with the delegates during the school tour conducted by the pupils of Harmony Primary.

A wonderful hands-on baking experience was made possible for the delegates as they interacted with the pupils to make ANZAC (Australia, New Zealand Army Corps) cookies (originated during World War I for the Australian and New Zealand soldiers prepared by their loved ones).

The boys were particularly enthusiastic about the whole experience as they had minimal exposure to cooking.
